The event is upposed to be held in May 2009 and has ambitions to become an annual event presenting Slovak and world´s design and architecture.
The main aim is to present the architecture, design and environment through various actions, activities and presentations, to bring them forward and to provoke discussion on this topic.Also comprehensively promote further urban development of Bratislava and other cities of Slovakia, to promote architecture and
design, to confront it with the world, helping to increase the general cultural awareness, and inform people about the visions of future development and planning in architecture and design.
The initial activites started in October 2008 by press conference at Marrol´s hotel in Bratislava (the Slovak capital). After the conference, there was a meeting with a well known designer Karim Rashid, at Meteorit theatre. He becomes a guarantor of the event.
Karim Rashid is a leading figure in the fields of product, interior, fashion, furniture, lighting design and art. Born in Cairo, half Egyptian, half English, and raised in Canada, Karim now practices in New York.
He is best known for bringing his democratic design sensibility to the masses. Designing for an impressive array of clients from Alessi to Dirt Devil, Umbra to Prada, Miyake to Method, Karim is radically changing the aesthetics of product design and the very nature of the consumer culture.
He has had some 2500 objects put into production to date. His designs of the Morimoto restaurant in Philadelphia and the award-winning Semiramis Hotel in Athens have successfully expanded Karim's scope to include the realm of architecture and interior design.
