Days of Machovo Jezero (Macha's lake) fame are coming to its end. The new Most Lake will be bigger, deeper and - according to the locals- nicer too.
The location was originally a site for surface mining; the activity has created an amazingly big hole over the years of excavation. It would take about a hundred years to fill the hole up to have a levelled surface. However the officials chose another alternative of utilizing the site.

They started directing water from the Ohre River already filling the hole, transforming it to a huge lake , with 300 hectares size, about 75m deep( deepest point), holding over 70mil. m3 of water. Water is expected to bring new life to the area, not just fish. There is a need for investors, to build local infrastructure, roads, port, and recreation facilities. First tourists are expected to be seen in four years as the Most Lake is planned to become a very attractive tourism spot in the Czech Republic.
